Agricultural College, Mahanandi of Acharaya N.G Ranga Agricultural University, Guntur is situated in natural habitat opposite to Nallamala forest range of Mahanandi, abode of Lord Mahanandiswara, in Kurnool district. Initially the college was started in the premises of Regional Agricultural Research Station, (Cotton Research Laboratory) in 1991 to meet the ever growing challenges in agricultural education and training particularly in Kurnool and Anantapur districts of Rayalaseema. The government of Andhra Pradesh transferred 153.5 ha of Cattle Farm of the Department of Animal Husbandry to Acharya N.G Ranga Agricultural University along with the infrastructural facilities viz., land, buildings, cattle sheds etc.
Sri N. Janardhana Reddy, the then Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the Agricultural College then on 18th August 1991 in the presence of Sri. K. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Hon'ble Minister of Law & Justice, Govt. of India sri K.N. Ranbhupal Chowdary Hon'ble Minister of cooperation, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh Sri K.Rosaiah, Hon'ble Minister of Health, Govt of Andhra Pradesh
On 21st January 1993, Sri P.V. Narsimha Rao, the then Hon'ble Prime Minister of India laid foundation for college buliding at Mahanandi Cattle Farm, Mahanandi. Subsequently, the Agricultural College was shifted to the present campus at M.C.Farm, Mahanandi on 9th Feburary, 1996. Since establishment of this college, about 720 undergraduate students and 41 postgraduate students have passed out as on 2015-16
Sri P.V. Narasimha Rao, the then Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Who laid foundation for this college at M.C.Farm, Mahanandi stated that this college caters to the needs of Rayalaseema region in promoting quality education in agriculture thus producing the qualified manpower to serve the farming community of this region in particular and country as a whole. Going ahead with that mission, the college is striving hard to maintain the highest standards in agricultural education without compromising on any point under support and guidance of Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University and the ICAR, the apex body in the country with the following goals
To train and produce the manpower needed for agricultural development in the state.
To improve and generate needed technologies in the production front through Research by the faculty and through post graduate research as well.
Augmenting the process of improved technologies to the stake holders i.e agricultural practioners.
