Agricultural College, Mahanandi was established during the year, 1991. The Department of Extension Education started with objectives of teaching undergraduate courses. Training Programs are organized by the department for the benefit of Farmers, Extension Personnel of line Departments and Private Input Agencies etc. It has also shouldered the responsibility of Village Adoption programme in different villages over the years, organizing Method Demonstrations, Kisan Melas and Agricultural Exhibitions, meetings, seminars, guest lectures etc.
M.Sc (Ag.) Programme in the Discipline of Extension Education was started from the Academic Year 2012-13. So for 4 M.Sc. (Ag.) students have completed their P.G. Programme. Currently no student is allotted due dearth of faculty.

Acoustic studio (Sound proof studio) i.e. with one production control room (PCR) and one studio with chroma key (Green mat) will facilitate effective training of the students in content development for print and electronic media and other innovative need based projects. Digital content may be developed for web based and mobile based e-learning. The facility of sound proof acoustic studio at the Department of Agricultural Extension, will be also useful for providing hands-on training / experience for the students on pre and post production of Video and Radio programmes, planning and preparation of advanced audio-video aids and conduct of simulated exercises on Communication as a part of the curriculum.
